Writing ACTIVITIES
This is a fun little site that I found, which has some creative writing prompts to get your creative brain thinking! It has everything from ideas about rocket ships to describing the sound of silence. I think it could also be a fun idea to try and create your own writing prompts that you can share with others. You can either click the link below or copy and paste the URL.

The creator of this website was one of my college professors my freshman year of college. As well as being an amazing professor she is a lover of reading and writing. On her website she offers some blogs on how to be a self-published author and just overall tips for writing. She has also published her own book "Love from the Barricade", which I have just bought and I am very excited to read. She has a lot to offer and it's all pretty great.

This is a Ted-Ed on how to write suspense into your stories. It includes fun graphics to help visually with understanding the ideas of suspense. This video also includes all of the different ways suspense could be included in a story that does not have to be horror filled. After the video has explained the idea behind suspense it goes into detail on how to create suspense in your own stories for your readers. It is certainly filled with great hints and tips to creating suspense in your stories but if you want to know more you'll have to watch the video.

With all the reading and writing I like to do I'm always trying to find new and fun ways to do both. With that being said I have come across some pretty fun apps that allows reading and writing to come together. The first one I was introduced to was Wattpad. This is an open platform that allows anyone who enjoys writing to get their writing out in the open so that people can read their work and give feed back. It is also great for readers who want to find new and exciting topics. It is a free platform that has upgrades in which you can pay for.
The most recent reading and writing platform that I have come across is swoon reads. This is another free platform that you just have to make an account for. These books are all finished manuscripts of books that new and up and coming authors are trying to get published. Feedback is really important for this platform because it helps these writers get their books published through the swoon reads website or app. If you are a writer you can also submit your work on here and have the chance to get it published. It also offers some neat tips on how to format your book and how to create a cover for your book.
I have used both of these platforms and really enjoyed them and as I come across more I will add them to this page and share them with you all!

Recently I have discovered a book event where you can meet with some of your favorite authors. It is a big event quite like comic con, but instead it is all about books and their authors. This event begins in the beginning of October and only lasts for four days but it has fully packed days of discovering new authors and even meeting some of your favorites. The key note speakers of this event are Kristen Ashley and Denise Grove Swank. The major tickets of this event even include a lunch with an author of your choosing where you can sit down and have meaningful discussions with the authors about their books. The event also includes book signings, panels, workshops, and even a murder mystery dinner show. If you go to InD'Scribe Events you can find out much more about this book festival, which starts October 4th and ends October 7th. And buy your tickets!

So I found this new app that is easy and free to download called the Book Boyfriend. It is a fun and stylish way to connect with readers of all types, especially when it comes to romance novels. It also offers ideas for new things to read on a daily basis at a cheap and affordable price. The deals that are offered, however, are more for e-readers like the kindle or nook.
On a side note I also am subscribed to a fun newsletter that sends me daily news on book freebies and book bargains. Now go out and find your next book boyfriend to fall in love with! |
The videos, how to's, writing prompts, and some articles that will be seen here are not my own and belong to the original publishers or producers. I have just included them here because I believe they contain helpful information to writers and readers alike.
